Minimizing the Homeless Population

Broward County is passionate about making our county the best place to call home.  With an estimated homeless population of $2,450, Broward County and the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are determined to minimize that number.  The effort will enable people who are intoxicated access to homeless shelters.  With increased street outreach teams and prioritized emergency shelters for the chronic homeless, officials hope to provide shelters and permanent housing.  Last year, the county placed 285 individuals or households in homes through rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing programs.   We anticipate continued success.  For more information, contact Broward County at  www.broward.org.
