Thousands of human trafficking cases are reported in the U.S. yearly. Human trafficking is a hidden crime because victims may be afraid to come forward, or we don’t recognize the signs even when it’s happening right in front of us. Florida’s ranked third in the nation for human trafficking and South Florida is one of the state’s top regions for this horrific crime. Traffickers are confident in what they can get away with; they’re hoping you won’t notice the red flags, won’t ask questions, and thrive on our ignorance. Stricter laws must be implemented to prosecute anyone guilty of harming our children.
