Where has civility gone? Years ago, when I first entered the political arena, I was excited about the prospect of being able to help people who didn’t have a voice. In the subsequent years, I’ve seen an escalation in nastiness, negativity, and a complete disconnect as to what people are expecting in elected officials. It’s become a game as who can be the most negative and it’s destroying people’s faith in the system. We’re no longer addressing issues that affect people’s lives but creating an arena of personal attacks and hateful statements. This isn’t the politics America signed up for.
