Vice-Mayor, Broward CountySharief served as Vice-Mayor of Broward County while Kristin Jacobs was the Mayor. She has spent a large portion of that time advocating for the much needed funding of programs to reduce homelessness. |

The program coursework covers a variety of topics, such as county government roles and responsibilities, county government structure and authority, financial management, ethics and sunshine law, negotiation skills, economic development, and effective communication. |

Recognition of Services, Kids and the Power of Work (KAPOW)Nov 2010 KAPOW is a program of the National Child Labor Committee and is a national network of business and elementary school partnerships which introduces students to career awareness through professionally developed lessons taught by business volunteers in the classroom. In addition, students make one visit to the workplace to participate in hands-on activities. KAPOW® lays a foundation for young students, introducing them to work related concepts and experiences that can be continually reinforced throughout the formative years. |
Outstanding Woman in Business, Miramar-Pembroke Pines Chamber of CommerceSept 2011 The Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce is the premier business organization serving Southwest Broward County. The Chamber is made up of 500 members representing businesses of all sizes and advances its membership business agenda through advocacy, leadership and engagement. |
Commissioner, City of Miramar, FLAug 2009-Nov 2010 In 2009, Sharief was elected to the Miramar City Commission, where she served as Vice-Mayor in 2010.[11] While serving on the Miramar City Commission, she donated her annual salary to charities. Sharief has been focused on the issue of the financial health of her constituents, enacting programs to provide foreclosure assistance and programs related to getting through the economic slump. |
